Other important places of interest include Bhagirathi Shila, the sacred stone where King Bhagirath meditated to bring Ganga to Earth, and the Gaumukh Glacier. At 3,583 meters above sea level, Kedarnath is the most important of the Shiva temples in India. It is said that even after the end of the great Kurukshetra war, the Pandavas performed penance before Lord Shiva here to attain forgiveness. It is a big stone slab-built temple that remained unscathed by the raging 2013 floods. Other notable places include the Bhairavnath Temple, dedicated to Bhairav, a fierce manifestation of Shiva, and Vasuki Tal, a high-altitude lake offering stunning Himalayan views.
Badrinath, at 3,133 meters, is dedicated to Lord Vishnu and is the most significant among the Chardham Yatra Family Package. Legend says that Lord Vishnu meditated here under a Badri (berry) tree for thousands of years. The temple is built with bright, colourful architecture; it symbolises devotion and salvation. Other notable attractions are Tapt Kund, the natural hot spring where devotees take a bath before darshan, and Mana Village, which is the last Indian village on the Tibet border, full of mythology and history.
The best time for the Chardham Yatra Package from Delhi is during the period between May and October. All the temples in the winter season shut down due to the heavy snowfall. During monsoon months July and August, landslides will occur so much, therefore a cautious approach would be followed. As this trek is accompanied by high altitude. The journey can only be followed by people after having some physical training. Some cardiovascular exercises must be followed with strength-building exercises. Carrying warm dressing, rain gear, sturdy footwear, medicine, and dry snacks is a must. In advance, booking travel arrangements should be done because of the high inflow of pilgrims in peak season.
